Golf Course
This 18-hole gem located in the Limpopo Province has been created utilizing the latest technology and trends in golf today and will set new standards for both the region and the Country.
The feature seventh hole alongside the waters edge will be a 630meter par six which will challenge beginners to the most proficient of golfers. Unique grasses have been specially developed for the areas temperate to very warm climate and these promise to make the course unique not only in the Limpopo but in Africa - a dam wonderful idea!
The golf course will be open for tourists, the local public and corporate use until such time as the demand from residents requires a change in policy. Outside Membership will be limited and reviewed annually.
Golf Academy
A comprehensive facility will be built to international standards in collaboration with Logical Golf®, consultants to the High Performance Golf Programme at Pretoria University, Tshwane University of Technology Golf Academy and the South African Golf Development Board.
A golf development programme will be initiated under the guidance of nationally accredited Educational institutions and Members the PGA of SA.
A Mashie course and driving range will be built for the Members, the public and the players in the development programme which will include children from the surrounding communities whose parents will be employed on site - a dam wonderful idea!
Sport Turf Maintenance Diploma
There has been a collective effort in the industry and between Black Hawk Golf & Spa to provide a tertiary education course in the turf management sector for our employees, in this case only women. Women in the area have been marginalised and Black Hawk has undertaken to implement training and employment for these breadwinners.
This program is the first of its kind in Southern Africa and has received tremendous support from other golfing institutions. The Turf Association of South Africa has provided its support for this program and this training course is currently being conducted at other golf clubs in South Africa. This qualification is certified by UNISA - a dam wonderful idea!
The students in this program have been sourced from unemployed and interested parties, thus forming an integral part of our social development programs and employment empowerment initiatives. In addition to this, graduates will have the opportunity of practicing these skills in other countries.
The course undertaken by the students includes the following cultural practices:
- Fertilization.
- Irrigation.
- Turf grooming.
- Herbicide and pesticide control.
- Fungicides management control.
- Mowing practices.
- Tree and plant identification.
- Machinery repair and maintenance.
